I was born a mystic, a healer, and a truth-seeking and speaking empath. It is my lifepath. I inherited the DNA from my grandmother, who passed it down to me. I believe I’ve been Awake since birth. Lots of physical and mental abuse and trauma marked my early life, leading to big lessons and reluctant personal growth. However, my true blow-out kick-me-to-the-ground-screaming awakening and spontaneous kundalini arousal didn’t happen until later.
Fast forward to the years the1998-2010.
The way my life unfolds is that when it rains, it floods and it’s all I can do to keep from drowning. In 1998, my always-rocky marriage began truly blowing up, finally ending in divorce in 2003. (Super big Awakening.) Sometime in the year 2000 I hooked up with a healing group, led by a Scottish man from England. He taught the group a Sanskrit mantra; my fate was sealed. I started doing the mantra then the mantra started doing me and Kundalini was on the rise and she was on fire.
The experience was unbelievably traumatic.
I had no idea what a kundalini arousal was. There was no one to tell and no one to turn to – I was on my own. It started with burning feet and legs that wouldn’t hold still. Daily uncontrollable shaking. 104-degree fevers. Voices I didn’t want to hear. All kinds of extreme physical and emotional experiences. And non-stop visions. It was in one of these visions that salvation found me – I was told to find a Kundalini Yoga class or events would not end well for me. I didn’t even know how to spell Kundalini or what it was really and the idea of doing yoga never crossed my mind. Luckily, I found a studio in Houston and began the practice. It grounded me. I knew then I was going to be okay.
The rest, as they say, is history.
These events deepened my spiritual path and shifted my trajectory in a fundamental way. I’ve been there, I’ve gone through, and the process remade me. It turned my dross into gold. I’ve been helping others go through their awakening and kundalini experiences ever since.
I’ve emerged as a dirty-boot kind of spiritual leader, helping people break through ego-driven roadblocks using humor and unexpected perspectives.
Spiritual Awakening vs Kundalini Awakening: What’s the Difference (And Which One Are You Experiencing?)
The first thing to know is that spiritual awakening and kundalini awakening are very different events. These two experiences are often confused—but they are not the same thing.
So, if your question is, “Am I going through a spiritual awakening… or is this something deeper like kundalini?” keep reading. I’ll explain the difference in a way that makes it easier to understand.
What Is a Spiritual Awakening?
A spiritual awakening is a shift in awareness. You know it’s happening with you begin to:
Question your identity, purpose, and beliefs
Feel disconnected from old patterns or lifestyles
Seek deeper meaning in life
Become more aware of your thoughts and emotions
It’s not something that usually happens overnight—most of the time, it unfolds in layers. The process is one of waking up to yourself. You begin to see yourself more and get to know yourself in new ways. (I know, it’s so enlightening, isn’t it?)
