Meditation Made Easy

Almost everyone I’ve ever had in a yoga class or in coaching has told me, “I can’t meditate.”

There’s a common idea that meditation means having a completely empty mind, sitting for hours, and feeling perfectly calm the whole time.

I’m here to dispel that myth once and for all.

Sometimes when you sit down to meditate, you get angry. Sometimes you feel sad. Sometimes you start worrying.

No wonder so many people avoid it—it can seem like an exercise in misery.

But meditation is not about emptying your mind.

Meditation is the small space that lives in between thoughts.

It is a beautiful way to begin learning how to focus your mind—not empty it. That level of stillness is for very advanced practitioners.

How to Begin

When you first start, begin with just 5 minutes.

Sit on the floor, in a chair, or anywhere that feels comfortable.

Place your hand on your belly.

As you breathe, notice this simple pattern:

• Inhale, belly rises
• Exhale, belly moves inward

Now gently repeat to yourself:

“Inhale, belly rise. Exhale, belly move inward.”

When your mind drifts—and it will—simply notice it, and bring your attention back to:

“Inhale, belly rise. Exhale, belly move inward.”

Why It Works

The more you practice, the easier it becomes to focus.

And focus helps quiet the mind.

When the mind becomes quieter, the nervous system begins to settle too.

That’s it—meditation made easy.
